Blogging: Past, Present and Future

Presenter: Bonnie Nardi

Abstract:

Bio: Bonnie Nardi is an Associate Professor in the School of Information and Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine. She is a member of the Department of Informatics, and is in the Information and Collaborative Technologies (ICT) research group. She is an ISR faculty member.

Prof. Nardi is an anthropologist specializing in the study of technology.  Her theoretical orientation is activity theory, a philosophical framework developed by the Russian psychologists Vygotsky, Luria, Leontiev, and their students. Her interests are user interface design, collaborative work,  computer-mediated communication, and theoretical approaches to technology design and evaluation. She is currently conducting a study of blogging.

Prof. Nardi is co-editor, with Matt Jones and Beth Mynatt, of a forthcoming special issue of ACM TOCHI (Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction) on Social Issues and HCI.
