MonArch: Architecting Dynamic and Flexible Monitoring SystemsPoster Student: Marcio Dias Advisor: Debra J. Richardson Abstract: Although there are many monitoring systems
available today, the development of new monitors is still necessary.
The main reason is that software monitoring is used for multiple purposes
to check dynamic properties, but there will always be new types of use
(new purposes) for monitoring systems, as well as new types of properties
to be verified (unforeseen previously). One problem in developing new
monitors is that many of the common services are hard to be reused. Based
on a software architecture style and service-oriented approach, monitoring
systems can be viewed as a product family that can be either statically
or dynamically evolved and reconfigured. Bio: Marcio Dias is a Ph.D. student in the School of Information and Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine. He received a M.S. in Information and Computer Science from University of California at Irvine in 2000. He also received a M.S. in Systems Engineering from COPPE Systems at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in 1998, and a B.S. in Computer Science summa cum laude in 1996 from the Computer Science Department at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
