There are many airports around Los Angeles and Irvine. You can choose to fly into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) whether you intend to stay in Irvine or Los Angeles. However, the closest airport to UC Irvine is "John Wayne/Santa Ana/Orange County" (which name depends on your travel agent). It's about 50-60 minutes from LAX to Irvine depending on the time of day (avoid commute times 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.) Hotels in Irvine A listing of hotels is available on the accommodations
page. Directions/Parking Permits You need a parking permit to park at UC Irvine. Currently there are parking permit dispensers at only at some entrances to UC Irvine. These directions bring you onto campus via one of these entrances: East Peltason Drive. From North:
From South:
Permit: Pull over immediately at the automated dispenser (designated by a star on the campus map) to purchase a permit. Permits cost $1 per hour, up to $4 per day. The machines accept quarters and $1 bills. Park in lot 18C. [Parking lot 18C is located in section 8/9 E on the campus map, near Middle Earth. On the PDF map on the web, ignore the lot labeled 18C near lots 18 and 18B - it's mis-labeled. That's really lot 18A, which will be under construction.] |
