Yi Wang (Oliver) has accepted a position at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China. Before this, he was an assistant professor in the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology and the director of the co-co lab. He was also an affiliated faculty member of RIT's Data Science program. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Department of Informatics at UC Irvine in 2015.

He is interested in using multiple research strategies to investigate the human and social aspects of globally distributed collaborations. Specifically, his current research focuses on two interrelated streams: 1. using data science methods to help globally distributed teams predict the outcome of collaboration in these teams and identify the potential threats to effective collaboration; 2. using game theory to model team dynamics and validate theoretical models through empirical study. He also studies gender inequity in computing professions from the social psychology perspective.
