Event Namespaces within Prospero

Abstract:

As we begin to see wider deployment of directory services supporting dynamic update we will also see their use in applications supporting communication between users, or between programs and users. Such directory services will track user locations and distribution preferences for messages, but they may also track messages themselves, managing mailboxes and holding messages for deferred delivery. This presentation describes our use of the Prospero directory service by several applications to manage such communication. Naming, security, and availability issues will be discussed.
