Architecting large scale Enterprise Applications has never been as challenging and complex as now. Two definitive major trends define the contemporary enterprise software landscape: (a) substantial movement towards leveraging in-house virtualization and public clouds, and (b) the proliferation of productivity enhancing embedded, mobile and smart devices. Contemporary approaches to architecting security in enterprise software typically have been an afterthought resulting in a high level of security loopholes and non-compliance either with regulation or in applying standards and best practices. In this task, we focus on the challenges to next generation enterprise application development brought about by the Cloud and Smart Devices usage. We discuss the contemporary trends in addressing these and strategize our approach in holistically architecting security in the rapidly evolving landscape of Enterprise Applications.
